Whitewater Rafting Info

Equipment

Your guide will welcome you at our Whitewater Rafting Centre in Juuma before the adventure begins.
All whitewater rafting programmes include the necessary rafting equipment (rubber boots, rain gear, life jacket and helmet), transfers and the services of a professional guide.
You are welcome to bring a change of clothes, which you can leave at our office and change into after the rafting trip. We also recommend bringing your own reusable water bottle, as it stays securely on the floor of the raft during the journey.
We do not recommend bringing mobile phones, car keys or other valuables that could be damaged by water.

Age Requirements

The age limits for our whitewater rafting trips comply with the safety guidelines approved by the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency.
The minimum age requirements are strictly enforced. For example, children must be at least 5 years old to join the Family Route, and participants on the Wild Route must be 18 years or older.

Departure Location

Our Whitewater Rafting Centre is located at Jyrävä Camping, approximately 20 km from Ruka Ski Resort.

Whitewater Rafting in weekly programme

Our summer weekly programme is available daily from 1 June to 6 October 2026.

Kitkajoki

The Kitkajoki River is a free-flowing river stretching approximately 40 kilometres from Lake Kitkajärvi to Lake Paanajärvi across the Russian border. Its remarkably stable water levels and diverse rafting routes make it one of Finland’s premier white water rafting destinations. While the river features numerous rapids ideal for rafting, the spectacular Jyrävä waterfall, the largest rapid on the river, is admired from the shore rather than navigated.
